Barman Duties at TT and Functions

The following applies to those that have been allocated for bar duty on a Thursday evening:

• You will be reminded of your bar duty by the club secretary / administrator on the Tuesday before the Thursday time trial. If, for whatever reason, you are unable to make it, it is your responsibility to find a suitable replacement or swop out with someone. Please note that it is not the reponsibility of the club secretary / administrator to find you a replacement.
• Report for duty by 6pm sharp
• Obtain float and bar cards from club secretary/administrator
• Unlock fridges and check stock levels of drinks, if necessary replenish depleted stock
• Ensure a price list of drinks is on hand
• Serve drinks promptly
• All spirits must be measured using a tot measure
• No member/patron may run a tab/account and all drinks must be paid for in cash  or by using a club bar card
• Keep the bar counter clean of empty bottles/cans/spillage
• On closing up, at least 3 people must be present to :–
  • Lock the fridges
  • Lock the doors onto the dam
  • Extinguish the fire (if applicable)
  • Put all the cash and cards into a bank bag and deposit in the drop safe;
  • Turn off the lights
  • Lock the main door
  • Set the alarm
  • Ensure you all leave together for security reasons

Note: The barmen may not drink for free and all drinks consumed must be paid for.

Time Trial Duties and Instructions

NEVER PUSH THE RUN BUTTON!

1.    Know when you are on duty. The duty roster is below.
2.    You will receive a reminder on the Tuesday prior to your duty from the Club Administrator
3.    Should you not be able to meet your commitment – you need to arrange a substitute. Phone a friend and relay this change to the Administrator on (011) 486-0979 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . It is not the responsibility of the Administrator to do this.
4.    Report to the office half an hour before time trial start.
5.    Collect a clip board, pen, time sheet, hooter and key pad from the secretary.
6.    NEVER PUSH THE RUN BUTTON!
7.    Proceed to the clock on the viewing deck.
8.    Carefully plug the key pad jack into the clock.
9.    Push the single red dot button ( . ). This changes the clock from time to stopwatch.
10.    Start schedule: Summer 17h45 K1 start. Winter 17h30.           
11.    K1’s start first. 2 minutes later K3’s and on 3 minutes the K2’s.
12.    At three (3) minutes before the start of Time Trial, issue three (3) quick blasts from the hooter.
13.    Start the clock by pushing ( 1 ).
14.    Each start is signalled by a blast from the hooter.
15.    You MUST allow the watch to run for 70 minutes.
16.    Record the times for each category i.e. 10 K1’s, 10 K2’s and all K3’s.
17.    After the required 70 minutes Stop the watch by pushing ( 2 )   
18.    Reset the stopwatch by pushing ( 3 )  
19.    Push ( . ) to return to normal watch. 
20.    Return all the equipment to the sectary. Do not pull on the cable when removing the jack plug.
