Dabs at Umko

What a showing for Gauteng paddlers at the Hansa Stihl Umkomaas Marathon, held on March 19th and 20th in the Ixopo, in big water.

The strong crew of Dave Hamilton-Brown and youngster Murray Burgess did Dabs proud with a 3rd place, outperforming 2010 champions Jacques Theron and Piers Cruickshanks, who finished in 5th position.

Robbie Herreveld and Graham Monteith made a rare appearance to claim a surprise 6th place. It just shows the value of experience.

Up-and-coming Gavin Shuter and partner Donovan Wewegee of Maritzburg College won the junior section, finishing 8th overall in this formidable race.
